How to Sell Ebooks with a PayPal Account

The most well-known services for selling ebooks and other downloadable, digital goods absolutely SUCK:

  • ridiculously expensive
  • out-dated web architecture
  • so user-UN-friendly it’s not even funny

Ebook Payment Processing/ Digital Delivery Services to Avoid:

  • Clickbank
  • CommissionJunction
  • Autowebbusiness
  • 1shoppingcart
  • Payloadz

*Note: I’m not hyperlinking these services; that would be too much of a gift. These ebook services are well-established — you can find any of them by adding a .com to their names or Googling them.

*Note also: I am NOT warning you against purchasing any ebooks or digital products sold via these services — as a customer. I know of no reason to distrust buying a product through any of these services — it is unlikely that as a customer you would even be aware of the payment processing services the author /publisher is using.

If you’re an author, self-publisher, internet marketer looking to sell ebooks or audiofiles — or digital art, photography, graphics, templates, software — as a way to make money, then you are already familiar with these services. You’ve probably checked out their features and pricing plans in anticipation of selling your original works in ebook format.

This is THE best heads-up — truly golden tip — I can offer anyone looking to make money as a professional blogger, writer, self-publisher, internet marketer.

Over the past four or five years I have used all of the above services on behalf of clients. A year ago, I really started to wring my hands a bit over which one to use for my own ebooks. After Web Hosting and Blogging Programs, this is the one web-based self-publishing tool I have investigated more than any other.

Like you, I need an ebook payment processing and delivery system:

  • with a dirt-cheap, simple monthly pricing system
  • that integrates seamlessly with my existing free PayPal account
  • does NOT have a million complicated programming variables and templates to wrestle with or require a professional programmer to implement
  • is user-friendly, built on modern web architectures that are NOT from 10 years ago (which amounts to being totally antiquated and out-dated in the world of web technology)
  • is NOT a hot-bed for every cheezy, heavy-handed internet marketer on the planet

The Best Ebook Payment and Digital Delivery Service:
e-junkie.com

Yes, that is an affiliate link; I am proud — nay, ECSTATIC — to recommend e-junkie. When I finally found e-junkie.com, after literally YEARS of searching for a service like this, I thought I must be dreaming.

Where have you been all my web-developing life?

Everything I wanted — to sell my own ebooks with my Paypal account — and more. e-junkie.com boasts built-in Affiliate Program management too.

e-junkie.com costs $5 a month to use. FIVE dollars a month. No transaction limits or additional per-transaction fees (beyond what Paypal takes).

Don’t even consider using those other outdated, complicated, monsters of old-school Web 1.0. Forget ‘em. In the Web 2.0 world, e-junkie.com and other services like them are the answer for the Little Guy looking to make money as a self-published Author, not spend it…

Slade on Blogging is committed to saving you about five years worth of experience, advocating everything you can do for free, whenever possible — I only recommend the services I actually use, period. If I tell you the best place to spend your precious $5 here and there, know that I mean it.

Your writing, blogging, self-publishing project may not be at this monetization point — yet. But you will be — that’s why you’re here, right, to learn how to have a day-job like mine? In June 2007 I will be releasing a full tutorial to show you how to easily create your own pdf ebooks. Be sure to subscribe to my blogging and meaningful marketing tips, if you haven’t already — as with all my releases, subscribers will find links to free downloadable previews at the bottom of every post.

I’ve been using this excellent ebook/digital download service since January, 2007, and I don’t see anything comparable out there. If you know of any other better way I should check out, please leave a comment. If you’re using one of the services I’ve slammed, please explain to me — for God’s sake — WHY?
