[...] A decade ago Mandy gave me a copy of Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way inscribed with the message “Sometimes, we have to create the life we want to live.” [...]

  2. Jesus Loves the Little Heathen of The World

[...] Margot Adler, in her incredible work on modern Neo-Paganism Drawing Down the Moon, finds a common thread among the witches she interviewed – an instinct for engaging in spontaneous ritual theater at a very early age, despite socialization toward any particular religious tradition. [...]

  3. [...] A gal named Miriam put the revival of shamamism and the concept of God-as-a-Girl into a magic of words published under the pen-name Starhawk – that book is called The Spiral Dance. [...]

  4. [...] You’ll find some great psychic autobiographies out there, but they tend to record the human drama that surrounds mediumship – the reactions of other people, the social stigma, the coming-of-age stories that revolve around “I’m different from everybody else…” [...]

    Gift From Daniel
    Karen Alexander

I doubt this book is available anyplace
    but in resale.
    (org published in 1996)
    But it’s one of those
books I could read many times over.
Talk about creating a personal “shift”.

Amazon used has it listed for $1.18.

I snagged this ‘overview’ to share
    about the book.

    Overview:
Like many of us, Karen Alexander was preoccupied with her own life – an average life filled with joy and sadness, with bills and shopping and everyday problems. And she considered herself happy. But while she knew deep down that there had to be more to life than just “getting by,” she never really thought she could reach another level of peace. Then she met Daniel, a spiritual guide who appeared to Karen in the form of a seven-year-old. Daniel’s questions were puzzling. His answers enlightening. His insight made Karen question the way she viewed herself and treated others…even the way she thought about God. And through Daniel’s calm, clear vision, she saw – really saw – what life can be all about. 275 pages.

You can share your ‘library’ with others,
and connect to those who have the same books.
Here is a link to my shelf which is still
under contstruction with more to add. :)

    Fading Towards Enlightenment
    Wayne Wirs

Wirs takes me on a magical journey everytime I view of the photographs in this book, and
his written journey touches my soul.

    Sharing the Dedication….

“Fading Toward Enlightenment is dedicated to all the
Spiritual Seekers who, in their quest for Inner Peace,
sacrifice some of their Normality, to recognize some of their Divinity.
You may be different – - but you are not alone.”

I’m going to share a link to his book
because he’s not YET one of those well known
    authors.

  12. [...] If I taught a course on developing intuition, this would be the required text book. Frankly, in this day and age of blogging, I feel that some of the best-known books out there about spiritual development, developing your intuition, or using your inherent psychic abilities are nice – but that’s it. They’re just nice. They present a nice overview of general concepts… Best-selling authors like Laura Day, Doreen Virtue, Sonia Choquette, Richard Webster, or Sylvia Browne wrote ground-breaking books, mostly in terms of when they were published. Were these authors to come on the scene at the same time Andrea did (in the last few years) the general material they have published wouldn’t cut it in my opinion — they could give away the same information through blogs. I want to echo the rec on the Cameron book and highlight one about to be published, Healing the Rift. The author is a scientist who keeps watching cancer patients die, so embarks upon a long quest to understand human existence. He believes the world is a blending of mind and spirit — and he asks important questions, blending both science and spirituality. The vast majority of us believe in a spiritual dimension and most of us also believe in science. This book takes us through a metaphysical an scientific journey that explores where we came from, what we are and the illusory nature of reality.

Recently picked up a copy of Leo Rutherford’s ‘The View Through the Medicine Wheel: Shamanic Maps of How the Universe Works’ and loved every word of it. Rather than dogma, faith, beliefs and all the other nonesense, Leo breaks down the tonal and the nagual in overlying circles based on the four cardinal points. Each direction is associated with different steps to the path of knowledge that are relatable and most of all, applicable.

A very good book on runes is A Practical Guide to the Runes: Their Uses in Divination and Magick by Lisa Peschel. I know the magick part is accurate, but without any talent in divination, i can not speak for the divination half.

a bit of the synopsis on Barnes & Noble:

“…This guidebook will help you discover the oracular nature of the runes and how to use them as a magickal tool for insight, protection, and luck. Practical and concise, this book includes:

    • Complete descriptions of the twenty-four runes of the Elder Futhark,
    plus WYRD, the blank rune
    • The differences between bindrunes and runescripts
    • Four rune layouts and detailed rune interpretations,
    including reversed position meanings
    • How to carve runes and create talismans
    • Meanings and uses of the runes in magick “
