Manifesting More — Celebrating Abundance

Put your To Do Lists away for a moment — today’s the day to work on your Ta-Dah List!

August 1st is Lammas Day, also called Lughnassadh (pronounced loo-NAH-sah). It is the Festival of the First Fruits; the first of the 3 harvests; start of the harvest season; it’s all about celebrating the bounty in our lives.

For more scholarly information about the origin of the name, check out Druid Journal’s Word of The Day.

You spend so much time and energy on your To Do list — that running list of what you have yet to accomplish, what you still lack, what you need, what you wish. Always in the future, always somewhere else…

Before you tackle anymore “I need to…” take a few moments to give yourself credit for some “Look what I’ve done!”

Did you start something really big this year?
Or did you experience some simple joys?

Did you:

  • make a baby?
  • adopt a pet?
  • go back to school?
  • launch a business?
  • start your own blog?
  • land a new job?
  • ask for a raise?
  • find a new home?
  • create something — anything?
  • plant some tomatoes?
  • make a new friend?
  • start a new exercise program?
  • sign up for a class you’ve always wanted to take?
  • teach someone to tie her shoes?
  • read a wonderful book and then passed it on?
  • go somewhere you’ve never been before?

What fear have you moved toward?

  • What action have you taken?
  • Who have you encouraged?
  • Whom have you loved?

Thought-forming — 3 Simple Secrets for Manifesting More:

  • Gratitude: The first secret of manifesting more abundance is to acknowledge what you already have. When you focus on what you lack, what you have yet to accomplish, you create a feeling of need or scarcity. A sure-fire antidote for feeling that you’re lacking something is to identify where it is, where you do have it.
  • Emotion: The second secret of manifesting more of what you want in your world is to engage the emotion of its presence in the present. How does it feel to get a paycheck? How does it feel to receive blessings, acknowledgment of your hard work? How does it feel to accept a compliment?
  • Casting: The third secret of manifesting is to write it down and share it. Thoughts are things — words are the wands; the way by which we handle ideas. Attaching a word to an idea or desire acts as a beacon for more of that energy to locate itself and find you; words are the fishing lines with which you reel in your Universal catch.

Put it out there!
Share your thoughts with the world. Tell it to someone you trust. Send an email to a friend. If you have a blog, publish a post about it. Or leave a comment on a blog you like.

Love is a verb. No one can ever love your life — and all that you find in it — more than you. What do you love about your life right now?

The longer you make your Ta Dah! list, the more you will manifest, the more you will become. Yes, like you, I too am eager to get back to my To Do list — but before you go, at least engage me in the “short-cut” version of this exercise.

Leave a comment and share just one thing you’ve started this year.

Slade, I love getting your emails! I have to say that they show up at great times, and always are an inspiration in some way.

This year I have started a lot of new things. One is my new practice, of Chinese medicine… always new things, every day!

In a world that is very busy minded and full of chaos, it’s nice to sit back with a cup of coffee and read your blogs… thanks for your work! It is very good.

    Char Marie,

Chinese medicine — sounds like an enormous and fascinating world to explore — here’s to “new things, every day” and lots of them.

Your compliment to my work is at the top of my list — I am very thankful to impact people in a positive way through writing.

  4. Slade | Shift Your Spirits on August 1st, 2007 8:09 pm

    Joan,

Start with the best, biggest, highest intentions you can — and any progress toward it is guaranteed to bring you great things.

We can at least dream big!

    You are blessed.

    Slade,
Thanks for this fantastic post. This year, I left an unfulfilling job and rediscovered who I am away from single-minded career focus. It feels like breathing the clear air, when I hadn’t realized I was drowning. Ta-Dah!

There are so many things I am grateful for this year - so many things that have unfolded and happened.

I am so grateful for taking the plunge and starting my own blog.

I am so grateful for further committing to my yoga practice and moving up to 6 times a week.

I am so grateful for adding pranayama and meditation into my practice.

I am so grateful for all the increasing opportunities I have to share my passion and joy for yoga & meditation with other people.

    Much joy,
    Kara-Leah

    Kara-Leah,

Congratulations on the impact you’ve made this year.

You, Lady Lioness, are definitely on my list of most awesome new friends made this year!

I’m so blessed to know you.

I am grateful, so very grateful, for so very much: a soul with which to dwell in the peace of love; a mind to bear witness to a world of promise and possibility; a spirit with which to soar to the apex of my freedom and power; an ego to kick some ass when the time and place is right for it; a heart with which to love and be loved at a moment’s notice in a world where trust is a precious quality; and last, but certainly not least, a body that I love and treat with temple-like respect. But more than all of these, I am so grateful for my capacity to open and receive the blessings that others can give me. Happy Lammas Day, everyone.

  10. Lola on August 1st, 2007 11:42 pm

    How fun!

Let’s see, what terrific things have I manifested in my life this year? Well, I am completely thrilled that I manifested YOU, Slade. You’ve made massive contributions to my spiritual development and introduced me to so many other inspiring and thought provoking folks. Spiritual growth is another point of gratitude. My heart and soul have been greatly expanded with all I’ve learned in the past year.

I’m grateful for successfully adapting to (and loving) living alone and all on my own for the first time ever.

I’m ever so grateful for my incredibly loving and fun support group of friends.

I’m grateful for the return of joy in my life.

I’m thankful that all of my needs have been amply met (with MUCH less worry).

I’m grateful to be learning to relinquish control.

And, as of just moments ago, I’m quite excited to discover I’ve apparently manifested the return of my ticket evading cuteness! (It disappeared about 10 years ago). Thanks for letting me slide Trooper Odom - you made my day!

    Slade,

I too, started a blog recently, inspired by ’stars of the apocalypse’.

This year for me has marked a lot of beginnings, and some drastic changes in the way I live. I am specially grateful for how easy it is to get in touch with people across the globe nowadays. That was definitely a cathalyst to make it all happen!

  12. Sheila on August 2nd, 2007 1:57 am

This year I had 3 surgeries, and made a full recovery without ever having to use narcotics, I moved into a better home situation, started playing the harp and opened my life to a new way to meet people.

  13. Patricia Singleton - Spiritual Journey Of A Lightworker on August 2nd, 2007 8:09 am

Well, I met this swell person named Slade you told me I was a writer and the next thing this guy named Slade did was tell me how to start my own blog on the internet. He convinced me that my dream of writing was a reachable goal. Then he introduced me to all these wonderful, spiritual people like Kara-Leah (That is such a beautiful name. I love saying it.), and Jeff who is a druid with magical words and beautiful pictures, and Damian who is an English bard who writes such beautiful words and ideas that make me grateful that I know him. And then there is Albert, the Urban Monk who is so wise for his young years. All of this has happened for me in the past year. This will be a year that I will always remember as being glorious. Jeff, have you done glorious in your word thing that you do? It is one of my favorite words. It has a magical, joyful quality about it. I am rambling because it is 3:00 in the morning and I can’t sleep because of all of the thoughts going round and round in my head. Have beautiful dreams everyone of you who are helping me fulfill my dreams. I love you all.

    Christos — WELL said!

Lola — and your powerful sense of humor!

Vitor — I can’t think of anything better to have inspired — congratulations on your blog!

Sheila — Surgery is a scary thought; facing mortal fear can be a powerful spiritual trigger, I’m glad to hear of your success. And the harp! Wow, that’s sounds lovely and impressive.

Patricia — as always, your light is so generous and your kindness refreshing and humbling. Your participation is the best!

    To everyone –
I rest my case about the “writing it down and putting it out there…”

  15. Angela-Eloise on August 3rd, 2007 8:11 pm

Two things happened to me ON Lammas day that represent my harvest/manifesting of things I’ve been working on and hoping for a very long time. One: I was offered a contract to do PR for a client I’ve been working for for a while, but this expands my role and makes me more money. Two: my beautiful letterpressed moving announcements arrived, with which I can share with everyone the good news that I am moving to Connecticut to be with the man I love. Such lovely things to be grateful for, made all the more special by their timing.

  16. Slade | Shift Your Spirits on August 3rd, 2007 8:42 pm

    Angela-Eloise,

    Congratulations on your news!

My mailing address is on the bottom of my Donations Page — send me one of your stationary masterpieces!

    : )

  17. Jeff | Druid Journal on August 6th, 2007 3:55 pm

    Congrats, Angela-Eloise! That’s fantastic news.

    Patricia, I did glorious today.

Sorry I’m late to this party. :-) The last year has been a time of tremendous growth for my site (which, if I recall correctly, had had approximately zero visitors at this time last year) and my own online community, which is such a rich source of inspiration and love that I still am having trouble wrapping my heart and mind around it!

And I’m tremendously grateful for those who have helped me manifest abundance through my blog, by downloading the guided meditations I’ve offered — both the free one and the $5 one — and taking me up on my offer to analyze their names for a donation. It’s a small start, but it’s a start, and it represents a great deal of hope and promise for me. Thank you!!

  18. Slade | Shift Your Spirits on August 6th, 2007 4:43 pm

    Jeff,

Congratulations on all the work you’ve accomplished with truly unique new offerings on Druid Journal.

I purchased the Guided Meditation to Release Fear and have been “saving” it, wondering what fear in particular I might use it to work on…

This past weekend, I had a very bizarre anxiety attack — as if they aren’t all bizarre, but I’ve never experienced the “casebook” panic attack before.

My body’s physical and emotional response did not “match up” with the contextual trigger/ the minor incident that brought it on. My Jason advised me to look at the emotion, and concentrate on discovering a time when I had a similar emotional experience, regardless of the context or the event.

Well, my body was pumping out Fight or Flight hormones, in a major way — so I can only call the emotion “fear.”

I am planning to start working with your meditation to see what I can discover — so, for me, the timing, having just acquired this as a potential new tool, couldn’t be better.

I’m grateful for it, and look forward to reporting back about it very soon.

    Keep ‘em coming!

  19. Jeff | Druid Journal on August 6th, 2007 5:07 pm

Slade — the “fear” you experienced — extremely strange. I wonder to what extent the meditation will be helpful, because it assumes that you know what is causing the fear going in — i.e. you know what you are afraid of. In other words, it’s primarily designed to release fear, as opposed to finding the source of fear. But it does touch on that a little bit. Who knows? I can only hope it will shed some light! :-)

  20. Slade | Shift Your Spirits on August 6th, 2007 7:40 pm

    Jeff,

Just to clarify, I DO know what the fear is — prior to that experience, I wasn’t sure what “fear” to work on releasing.

Now, I not only see one to “play” with for the hell of it, but one that could actually really use some work of this kind.

  21. Mandy on August 10th, 2007 9:48 am

OK…here’s my ONE ta dah before I start (or should I say “continue”) my obsessing with my to do list.
    1) I started a blog. But I started it last year, really…in October. But, here’s why I’m proud of that thing…I am still blogging…and my biggest fear was that I would start it and one day just quit. And I guess that’s still a possibility, but for now I’m still showing up there on a quasi-consistent basis. And see, the “showing up” is what I needed to work on. And I have.
    So…TAAAAAAAAAA DAH!

  22. Slade | Shift Your Spirits on August 12th, 2007 5:21 pm

    Mandy,

I am so thrilled that you finally started your blog — and I’m very proud of you for sticking with it.
