Image - Quiet Survival

Whether or not the lover leaves you, or the bank forecloses, or the blood test comes back positive, or the dream gets deferred a little while longer… or you are asked to endure an even more unspeakable loss.

Sometimes real triumph looks like quiet survival.

There is a thin line between pessimism — expecting the worst, drawing it to you, and creating self-fulfilling negative prophecies — and being okay. Whatever you choose to believe, you’ll eventually be right. Pessimism improves your odds of being right about a lot of things going wrong.

Choosing to be okay acknowledges that you are always You — transcendent, resilient, still here. Hopeful.

The shortest way out of just about any situation is simply to go through it.

When you focus on being okay, no matter what happens, you affirm that external circumstances do not determine your strength or control your inner peace.

You are not defined by the shit you find yourself smack in the middle of — even your greatest challenges assist you in expressing who you truly are.
